Weekend in Boston

I spent the past couple days visiting one of my best friends, Lizzy, at Boston University! She’s taking a summer course, but had time to show me around for a couple days.

On the first day we went to Newbury Street, a very cute shopping area.

We also visited the Boston Common Public Garden. It has gorgeous landscaping, the George Washington Statue, and of course the Make Way for Ducklings statues.

It rained most of the day on Friday, but in between showers we made it down to the Harbor and stopped by the North End for some amazing Italian pastries at Mike’s Pastry!

Saturday was gorgeous, so after lunch we headed to Harvard Square with two of Lizzy’s friends from school. We had ice cream at J.P. Licks, Checked out the Harvard Bookstore (where I found some old William Trevor books for my thesis research!) and watched some wedding photos being taken!

Homemade Strawberry Lemonade

My boyfriend and I made strawberry lemonade! I found a really great recipe on How Sweet It Is through the site Yummly.

You need:

2/3 cup granulated sugar

2/3 cup water

1 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice

1 1/2 cups sliced strawberries

1/3 cup mint leaves

Directions:

Combine the sugar and water in a small sauce pan to make a simple syrup. Whisk the mixture until the sugar dissolves and bring it to a boil. Once it starts to boil, remove from heat and place in the fridge for ten minutes.

Puree the mint and strawberries. Then add the lemon juice and simple syrup, pureeing again.

We strained our lemonade once to remove some pulp, but we could have strained it again in our opinion.

As a garnish we added some sliced strawberries, lemon slices, and a mint leaf!
