Glitter Easter Eggs

Yesterday I attempted some glittered Easter eggs, and let me tell you, they are not as simple as you would think.

The pink glitter is from the Target dollar bin and the bronze glitter is Recollections fine glitter from Michael’s.

These came out better than I expected them to, but only because I spent about an hour and a half completely covered in glue while Jack listened to me whimper.

My best advice on the glitter and glue front is to use less glue than you think is necessary. I used way too much, which smeared when I then tried to roll the egg in the glitter. Also, if you have the time, try doing one side of the egg at a time, to let them dry more fully. I think you can tell why a couple of those bronze eggs are not fully covered!

Happy Glittering!

Fourth of July Planning

I am so pumped for the Fourth! Jack and I will be making tri-colored margaritas for his family, and I got some amazing headbands from Shop Bracket!

These are just three of the five designs that came in the pack!

Here’s a subtle red, white, and blue outfit if you don’t feel like going all out. I’ll be keeping my actual outfit a surprise until the day of!

I’m wearing a sheer lace top from the Limited, jean shorts from Pac Sun, J. Crew earrings, Jack Rogers Wedges, and NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella

The boyfriend was not happy about having glitter blown at him, but he managed to pull through.

I also did some experimenting for my holiday mani!

From pinky to thumb, the colors are Essie Butler Please, Julep Ivy, Essie Double Breasted Jacket, Essie Butler Please with Summit of Style, and Essie Double Breasted Jacket. I started and finished with the all in one base and top coat from Essie.

What are your plans for the 4th?

New Year’s Glamour

The boyfriend and I decided to forgo the partying this New Year’s and have a fancy dinner at home! I’ve been setting up all day, so I can start cooking while he’s on his way from work.

I got a whole bunch of fancy table decorations at Target and Party City, and a lot of it on clearance.

The plates, placemats, and metallic shred are from Party City. I didn’t want to get too cheesy with the New Year’s decor so I opted for a kind of Kate Spade inspired color palette instead. The glassware, sunglasses, and the Nate Berkus tray are from Target, which I got on clearance.

These cupcakes from Wegmans added the perfect touch of sweetness to the table. And a little (or a lot) of champagne never hurt anybody!

I turned the napkins into bows by pinching them in the middle and tying them with a bit of ribbon. To make it a little more glamorous, I made napkin rings of card stock that I had, which matched my color scheme perfectly. I wrote out 2015 in an Art Deco style and added some glitter glue for sparkle.

Now it’s time to get ready and get cooking before Jack gets here!
