Holiday Cheer

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! Here are a couple highlights from mine.

On Christmas Eve, my grandparents came over and we opened gifts. I got some clothes, which I will post about later, and my big gift was a Pottery Barn McKenna Jewelry Box!

On Christmas Day, I went to the boyfriend’s house to see his family for a bit. It was his nephew’s first Christmas so the house was covered in toys. His mom got me some travel cases and a Style Me Pretty Wedding Book to get me started on my new career path. I’m really glad that everyone has been so supportive of my decision!

Jack got me the Kendra Scott Rose Gold Elle Earrings in Peach that I asked for! I’m taking him to a fancy mixology bar in NYC that he wants to go to as his present.

We then met up with my sister and took the train into NYC to see my dad and his fiancée. Before dinner at Smith and Wollensky, we opened gifts and had some snacks.

Hope everyone’s holidays were just as happy as mine!

Deck the Halls

This weekend, we got the house decorated, and I finally finished all of my wrapping and card making.

I decided to make cards for my whole family and Jack’s family as well! It took a while, but I think they turned out pretty well.

I’m particularly proud of the handwriting on Jack’s mom’s card!

IMG_0317I get most of my craft supplies from Michael’s, and I used scrapbook paper and stickers to decorate them.

As if you couldn’t tell I am so excited for Christmas!

More Christmas Cheer

Last week was full of even more Holiday fun!

On Wednesday I went into the city to meet my dad and sister for lunch in Bryant Park. We ate at the Bryant Park Grill, which is always one of my favorites.

During the holidays a Winter Village gets set up in the park with lots of shops, a skating rink, and a big tree. Even though I didn’t have time to look around this time, I went last year and there are so many cute things to look at!

Here is my sister and I in front of the tree!

On my walk back to the train, I passed Baked By Melissa and had to pop in for some cupcakes! I got a box of six:

Triple Chocolate Fudge, Chocolate PretzelHot Cocoa (mini of the month), Cookie Dough, Tie Dye

These are awesome cupcakes and if you haven’t tried them you haven’t lived.

On Friday, I met my Little and my Little Little at Peddler’s Village!

Peddler’s Village has a ton of cute stores and bakeries and the whole area is decorated for Christmas!

They even have the gingerbread house contest displayed in the gazebo

I would definitely suggest either Peddler’s Village or New Hope if you want a quick holiday getaway!

Longwood Gardens

As part of my Christmas present, Jack took me to Longwood Gardens!

It was all decked out for the holidays, and we stayed to see the grounds lit up with Christmas Lights once it got dark!

One cool part of the conservatory is the music room, which they set up as a fancy dinner party. this year it was peacock themed and they had an enormous tree sculpture made with peacock feather shaped leaves.

Our tips for battling lines and cold weather when you go:

– If you can, go on a weekday! We went on a Monday and it was still pretty crowded. I can’t imagine what a weekend would be like

– If you’re not traveling with little kids, you can probably walk around the conservatory in around an hour. We arrived at 2:30, which was a little too early because we had too much time before sunset. 3:30 would have been better

– That said, do the conservatory first! It is warm and the outside gardens don’t have much to offer until the lights come on when the sun starts to go down

– Grab refreshments in the concession tent. Don’t bother waiting on line for the restaurants there! The line was incredibly long, and if you just want a snack or hot cocoa, the concession tent is the way to go.

– We left around 6:00 and when we walked back through the entrance, it was mobbed! Be aware that most people will come later on at night, so either be prepared to wait on a huge line or come early

I definitely want to come back in the summer and see all of the flowering gardens! The surrounding Brandywine Valley is also adorable, so check that out as well!

Finals are done – time to catch up!

Now that my finals are finally over and my grades have come out, I can get back to blogging.

Obviously way late, but here is my boyfriend and I on Thanksgiving!

I wore a grey sweater tunic with leggings, a big red scarf and (not shown) my Frye riding boots. Jack wore the sweater I got him from Target for his birthday! He’s not really into fashion, so I know that the simple, but quality staples I can get him at Target will always go over well.

Over Thanksgiving Break I upgraded to the iPhone 6, which I love after having a 4s for so long. I’ve received a lot of compliments on my Modal phone case so I thought I’d share it!

Jack and I also went to New Hope, PA where we had his birthday lunch and did some Christmas shopping.

It really is a magical little town! We even accidentally went on the same day as the town Christmas tree lighting ceremony!
