5 Simple Packing Tips

Last weekend the boyfriend took me to DC and Annapolis for a weekend getaway!

I’ll share our vacation in another post, but I wanted to provide some packing tipsΒ for a small trip!

  1. Pack light! I know this is obvious, but it can be really difficult to only bring what you really need. One way I avoid over packing is by packing outfits that I know I will wear, rather than individual pieces.
  2. Dresses are your best friend. They are easy to fold into a small suitcase and are a whole outfit in one piece!
  3. Pick your three favorite shoes and wear one. Shoes are my downfall because I always want a variety of shoes for all the places I might be going. I will admit I brought way too many shoes for this trip, but I wore my Kate Spade Keds, and brought my Jack Rogers, and two (yikes) pairs of wedges. I have no self control.
  4. Limit the accessories. Bring your favorite necklace and a couple pairs of earrings, and leave the chunky stuff at home. It will save you space and make your suitcase that much lighter.
  5. My favorite thing in this suitcase is the Wear Me/Wash Me bag that I got as a gift with purchase from Lilly Pulitzer. It is perfect for hiding away intimates and bathing suits!

What are your favorite packing tips?

Rocks Box and Waffles and Sisters, Oh My!

I recently received my newest Rocks Box and I couldn’t be happier!

I got these gorgeous Kendra Scott Alex Earrings that I will definitely be spending my monthly Shine Spend on, this Gorjana bar necklace that goes perfectly with everything, and some versatile earrings that match!

I wore the KS earrings and the necklace on a photoshoot with my DZ grand little!

The shorts are from H&M and the top is from Garage.

Event Planning Update

I have been having a blast interning at the Olde Mill Inn in Basking Ridge! Everyone is so friendly and the weddings are really creative. I thought I would share some pictures of what I’ve been helping to set up!

IMG_2438

This bride was obsessed with purple! She even had it in her hair and on her dress. For this wedding, I set up my first escort card table; it is a lot harder than you would think to correctly line up all the cards, but my Maitre D’ thought I did a good job.

I also got to create the chalkboard sign for the card table! I even added a little purple to my “fauxligraphy” so hopefully the bride liked it.

IMG_2442

The wedding after that was crazily detailed! I spent most of the time working with the admin trying to figure out the right amount of water to put in a fountain so that it would start flowing as soon as the bride and groom poured in the water for their unity ceremony! It was very complicated and eventually we rigged it so that the officiant could step on the button to the power strip.

These escort cards were made by the bride, and they were a very unique touch to this one of a kind wedding!

Favorite Things

Here are a couple of my favorite things from my Instagram recently!

  1. Forever 21 Pouches

IMG_1668

I have the “Simple” one with me constantly to hold all of the random junk that would otherwise float around in my purse, and the other to hold pens for school. At only $4.50 each they were a steal!

2. Home Goods Flamingo Tumbler

This baby has been going EVERYWHERE with me. Not only does it make my caramel macchiatos even more fun, it was only $3 in the clearance section!

3. Charles & Charles Rose

IMG_2056

Not gonna lie, I picked it for the cute bottle, but I’d totally pick it again. IT’S SO PRETTY (and tasty). I finished it off while watching the balloons from the NJ Balloon Festival float through my back yard.

4. Finding a Coke with my Name on it!

IMG_2204

This was just exciting. I’m easily amused.

5. H&M Pineapple Keychain

OB-Sessed with this keychain. It was only $4.99, it’s gold, and it’s a pineapple. What more could you want?

Stay tuned for more of my favorite things!

Target Style

Just a short post for today because I’ve been running around preparing for New Year’s Eve! The boyfriend and I aren’t big partiers so we decided to make a fancy dinner and tablescape (which I will post about tomorrow) and watch the countdown in our jammies.

I popped into Target to get some decorations, and even though it’s not even New Years yet, I found the cutest Valentine themed mugs!

I got one for Jack and one for myself.

His says, “I Woof You” with a puppy, and mine says, “You Are Magical” with a unicorn! They also have ones with cats and coffee beans.

We made some Teavana Youthberry Tea and snuggled on the couch. I really do woof him!

The mugs are not listed on the Target website, but they also have cute travel mugs with sweater cozies!

Holiday Cheer

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! Here are a couple highlights from mine.

On Christmas Eve, my grandparents came over and we opened gifts. I got some clothes, which I will post about later, and my big gift was a Pottery Barn McKenna Jewelry Box!

On Christmas Day, I went to the boyfriend’s house to see his family for a bit. It was his nephew’s first Christmas so the house was covered in toys. His mom got me some travel cases and a Style Me Pretty Wedding Book to get me started on my new career path. I’m really glad that everyone has been so supportive of my decision!

IMG_0469

Jack got me the Kendra Scott Rose Gold Elle Earrings in Peach that I asked for! I’m taking him to a fancy mixology bar in NYC that he wants to go to as his present.

IMG_0376

We then met up with my sister and took the train into NYC to see my dad and his fiancΓ©e. Before dinner at Smith and Wollensky, we opened gifts and had some snacks.

Hope everyone’s holidays were just as happy as mine!

Deck the Halls

This weekend, we got the house decorated, and I finally finished all of my wrapping and card making.

IMG_0280

I decided to make cards for my whole family and Jack’s family as well! It took a while, but I think they turned out pretty well.

IMG_0313

I’m particularly proud of the handwriting on Jack’s mom’s card!

IMG_0317I get most of my craft supplies from Michael’s, and I used scrapbook paper and stickers to decorate them.

As if you couldn’t tell I am so excited for Christmas!
