Glitter Easter Eggs

Yesterday I attempted some glittered Easter eggs, and let me tell you, they are not as simple as you would think.

The pink glitter is from the Target dollar bin and the bronze glitter is Recollections fine glitter from Michael’s.

These came out better than I expected them to, but only because I spent about an hour and a half completely covered in glue while Jack listened to me whimper.

My best advice on the glitter and glue front is to use less glue than you think is necessary. I used way too much, which smeared when I then tried to roll the egg in the glitter. Also, if you have the time, try doing one side of the egg at a time, to let them dry more fully. I think you can tell why a couple of those bronze eggs are not fully covered!

Happy Glittering!

Wedding Fest!

The Bridal Show was a huge success and I feel like I have learned so much during this internship. Here’s more of the paper flowers and the tassel garland that I made! Check out my video for simple instructions on how to make your own. (Sorry it’s so awkward, it was for my public speaking class!)

Crafting and Fashion

Two of my favorite things in one post: fashion and crafting!

This dress was super on sale from H&M and it is so cute and comfy. I paired it with a gold and tortoise shell necklace and a huge paper flower that I made for the Bridal Show at the Olde Mill Inn! The flowers are super simple to make; I found an easy step by step guide on Pinterest.

Excuse my exhausted looking eyes… at least those bags are designer!

Valentine Puns

I love a good pun, so when I found cute rubber ducks at Target, I knew I had to incorporate them into some candy free Valentines!

I used a sharpie to do some fake calligraphy! It is super simple; all you do is write out a word in cursive, and then add volume to certain sections. I love pairing fancier lettering with something more casual like all caps!

To hold the duckies in place, I taped them to the card and then put washi tape over them for a fun (and sort of functional) adhesive.

Another really easy idea is to cover a card in stickers and write “Let’s Stick Together” or “I’m Stuck On You”. Simple and clever!

I used a bunch of Lisa Frank stickers that I had from a sticker book to make super girly cards. They could also be perfect for Galentine’s Day cards!

And if you still want more ideas, CRAFT has a ton of non candy Valentines for kids and adults!

Florals

I recently bought a book on Flower Arranging,The Flower Recipe Book, but since I don’t have all of the equipment yet, (who knew flower frogs are not actually tiny animals?) I grabbed some flowers from Wegman’s, and tried my hand at some small scale arrangements.

This last one is my favorite!

What do you think? Have you ever tried flower arranging or taken a class?

Deck the Halls

This weekend, we got the house decorated, and I finally finished all of my wrapping and card making.

I decided to make cards for my whole family and Jack’s family as well! It took a while, but I think they turned out pretty well.

I’m particularly proud of the handwriting on Jack’s mom’s card!

IMG_0317I get most of my craft supplies from Michael’s, and I used scrapbook paper and stickers to decorate them.

As if you couldn’t tell I am so excited for Christmas!

Happy 23rd, Marissa!

This weekend I headed to NYC to celebrate my DZ Big Sister’s 23rd Birthday!

Even though she already graduated last year, I can’t help myself from crafting for her. I saw a giant martini glass at Michael’s and decided to decorate it and fill it with goodies.

The stem is decorated with chevron glitter tape and strips of jewel stickers, which I cut from a larger square. The M came as a sticker, but I laid out the 23 myself by cutting individual jewel stickers from the larger strips. I put one long strip of jewels down the back to hold everything in place and cover up any seams.

This is the final product! I filled the glass with regular and carmel Hershey’s Kisses and added small bottles of UV Coconut and Smirnoff Carmel and a set of bracelets from Capwell + Co. I also decorated the edge with Lollipops I found at Michael’s.

We made our way into Manhattan on the Lower East Side for a night out!

What I’m Wearing

Dress: Arden B

Shoes: C. Wonder

After tons of getting ready, singing, and picture taking, we headed over to The DL, Delancey & Ludlow.

When you first walk in, it is a cute bar and restaurant with chandeliers and mirrored bar walls. Upstairs, however, are two more floors. The second floor was pretty empty when we got there, but the top floor has a rooftop garden feel, and it had just the right amount of partiers!

We all had an amazing time! Happy Birthday Biggles, love you!
